Farm NewsThe farm normally seems quieter in the depths of winter, but there are lots of jobs to catch up on - repairing machinery, trimming hedges, (we only trim a portion in each year to leave food and cover for wild birds), and other maintenance. Now that it is cold, the slugs have stopped eating the crops but now it's the pigeons' turn to snack on the oilseed rape. Our Hampshire Down ewes have justed started lambing, with the rest of the flock lambing in March. All the cattle are growing well, and the cows, which are still out at grass, will start calving next month - Aberdeen Angus, produced for the pub and Belgian Blue for the supermarkets and butchers

The Landlord of the Betsey Wynne is Jo Mutton. Jo’s enthusiastic and vivacious personality is infectious. Kevin Close, is our senior Head Chef, a popular Northern chef with an eye for detail, who favours classic English cuisine. A former landlord and restaurant owner with years of experience, including chef at the “Mild May” at the Glyndebourne Opera, who’s looking forward to becoming part of the Betsey Wynne folklore….
